About Dimensional Letters
Dimensional letters are cut from solid materials such as acrylic, aluminum, stainless steel or PVC and mounted to a wall or panel. They don't light up, so they are simpler to install, need no electrical connection and work well in lobbies, reception areas, conference rooms and well-lit exterior locations.
You choose the material, thickness, finish and mounting style, and we prepare a scaled proof showing exactly how the letters will look on your wall. Many customers pair dimensional letters with an illuminated sign elsewhere, or light them with existing building lighting.

How it looks
Dimensional letters look crisp and solid in daylight and under interior lighting, casting subtle shadows that add depth. At night they rely on surrounding light, so for after-dark visibility outdoors, pair them with spotlights or choose an illuminated product.
What to plan for
- Exterior signs, even non-illuminated ones, often require a sign permit and landlord approval.
- Check the wall material and what's behind it so the right mounting hardware is used.
- Choose exterior-rated materials and finishes for outdoor locations.
- Rule of thumb: about 1 inch of letter height per 10 feet of viewing distance. For a lobby wall seen from 20–30 feet, letters of a few inches can work; exterior signs usually need larger letters.

Do dimensional letters need electricity?
No. They are non-illuminated, so no power or electrician is needed. They can be lit with external spotlights if you want visibility at night.
How are they installed?
Usually with threaded studs and a paper pattern (mounting template) that shows exactly where to drill, or on stand-offs. We include the template where applicable.
